Jesus returns
The Antichrist pursues the Israelites
who fled to the mountains. (In an earlier section I explained how
people would flee from Jerusalem to camp in the open field. If you
have not read that section I recommend that you do). Read about this
pursuit:
The woman [God's people] fled
into the desert to a place prepared for her by God, where she might be
taken care of for 1,260 days .... When the dragon saw that he had been
hurled to the earth, he [the devil and his Antichrist] pursued the woman
who had given birth to the male child [Jesus].
(Revelation 12:6,13) |
People will not expect Jesus
to return at that time. They will be surprised when He comes (Matthew
24:36-44). Jesus will descend from Heaven (1 Thessalonians 4:16).
You will not need to be told that He is here because everyone on earth
will see Jesus descending from the sky in the same way that everyone on
earth can see the sun or flashes of lightning:
At that time if anyone says
to you, "Look, here is the Christ!" or, "There he is!" do not believe it.
For false Christs and false prophets will appear and perform great signs
and miracles to deceive even the elect -- if that were possible.
See, I have told you ahead of time. So if anyone tells you, "There
he is, out in the desert," do not go out; or, "Here he is, in the inner
rooms," do not believe it. For as lightning that comes from the east
is visible even in the west, so will be the coming of the Son of Man.
(Matthew 24:23-27) |
While Jesus is still in the
air, on His way to earth, those who died as followers of Jesus will rise
from the dead and become imperishable, and meet Jesus in the air.
Then after that, those who are alive at that time that are followers of
Jesus will instantly become imperishable and also meet Jesus in the air
(1 Thessalonians 4:14-17; 1 Corinthians 15:50-53; Matthew 24:31).
Once the dead in Christ gather with Christ's followers that are alive at
that time, and meet Jesus in the air, they will all descend to earth together
with Jesus (Revelation 9:1-4).
Christians refer to this event
as the "rapture". For more information on the "rapture" click or
tap here.
Jesus will land on the Mount
of Olives (Mount Zion) east of Jerusalem (Acts 1:9-12; Isaiah 52:7-8),
and the Mount of Olives will be split in two from east to west, forming
a great valley, with half of the mountain moving north and half moving
south (Zechariah 14:4). Splitting the Mount of Olives will cause
an earthquake that will cause several buildings in Jerusalem to collapse,
killing seven thousand people there (Revelation 11:3, 11, 13). Remember
that Gods people will be protected from this earthquake because they are
already safe in the open field far away from any buildings. The earthquake
will not hurt them, but it will surely be spectacular and awesome to behold.
The fleeing Israelites will seek refuge by fleeing into this newly formed
valley (Zechariah 14:4-5), in the same way that the Israelites during the
Exodus escaped the Egyptians by passing through the divided Red Sea (Exodus
14:15-22).
These Israelites will number
144,000 in total. They will be from all twelve tribes of Israel (Revelation
7:4), including the lost tribes, so they will be a mixture of Jews and
Gentiles. These 144,000 Israelites will be protected by this valley
(Zechariah 14:5). The Antichrist, who is pursuing the Israelites
who fled into the new valley (Revelation 12:13-17), will send his armies
to attack where Jesus is located in an attempt to destroy these Israelites.
When the Antichrists armies
advance toward Jesus, Jesus will defend himself by calling a holy army
from Asia. See the next section to find out about this!
