Not resurrected Elijah and Moses
Some people falsely believe that
the prophets Elijah and Moses are the actual Elijah and Moses that have
been resurrected from the dead. These people believe that Elijah
and Moses will appear after the "rapture" (see a later section) when Christ's
followers have been resurrected from the dead and made imperishable.
This is impossible.
The resurrection of Christ's
followers will occur when Jesus returns to earth (1 Thessalonians 4:14-17).
Yet the Bible says that Elijah will come before Jesus returns (Malachi
3:1; Malachi 4:5; Matthew 17:10-11). Therefore, Elijah must arrive
before the resurrection of Christ's followers. Also, the prophet
is like Elijah in the same way that John the Baptist was like Elijah (Matthew
17:10-13). John was not a resurrected actual Elijah, and nor will
be the end-times prophet.
Also, the Bible says that God
will raise up a prophet that is "like" Moses from "among" the Israelites
(Deuteronomy 18:15, 18), not the actual Moses.
Finally, the prophets Elijah
and Moses will be killed by the Antichrist (Revelation 11:7). If
they were the actual resurrected people they would be immortal and unable
to die (1 Corinthians 15:54). The fact that these prophets will be
killed is proof that they are flesh and not resurrected.
These two prophets are patterned
from Elijah and Moses, they are not the original Elijah and Moses.
