     Upon entering Jerusalem, the Antichrist will abolish daily sacrifices (Daniel 8:11-12). If you have not yet read the section on the future rebuilding of the temple, please do.
     According to Harper's Bible Dictionary (1985), Israelite worship included sacrifices. Sacrifices were brought both as gifts to God and also to cleanse the sanctuary. In a sacrifice, the blood of the animals were smeared on the alter, and the fat from the entrails as well as the kidneys were burned on the alter. There were strict rules for which animals and vegetation were permitted for sacrifices. Usually, but not always, priests and the person giving the sacrifice received the leftovers from the sacrifice to eat or otherwise use. There were sacrifices for atonement, thanksgiving, peace, ordination, purification, guilt, and sin.
     Christians are often unfamiliar with Israelite sacrifice because Jesus is our sacrifice. Jesus is our sin offering:

... But now he has appeared once for all at the end of the ages to do away with sin by the sacrifice of himself. Just as man is destined to die once, and after that to face judgment, so Christ was sacrificed once to take away the sins of many people ...
(Hebrews 19:26-28)

God demands a blood sacrifice. But we do not need to repeatedly cleanse with blood, because we are cleansed with the blood of Jesus. If you have not read it yet, please click or tap here to read the section on what Christianity is all about. It will explain the willing sacrifice Jesus made for you.
     The Antichrist desecrates the temple at Jerusalem by ordering people to set up an image in a wing of the temple in honor of the revived empire (Revelation 13:14; Daniel 9:27). This image in honor of the revived empire is the "abomination that causes desolation" (Daniel 11:31). The Antichrist causes this image to speak and forces people to worship this government and this image (Revelation 13:15).
     The Antichrist causes all who refuse to worship the image of this government to be killed, and unless you follow the Antichrist you cannot buy or sell (Revelation 13:15-17). The Antichrist performs miracles, signs, and wonders in order to deceive the inhabitants of the earth:

The coming of the lawless one will be in accordance with the work of Satan displayed in all kinds of counterfeit miracles, signs and wonders, and in every sort of evil that deceives ....
(2 Thessalonians 2:9-10)

And he performed great and miraculous signs, even causing fire to come down from heaven to earth in full view of men. Because of the signs he was given power to do on behalf of the first beast, he deceived the inhabitants of the earth ....
(Revelation 13:13-14)

The Antichrist will say that he is god, and will exalt himself above the true God (Daniel 11:36-37). Many people will believe that the Antichrist is the Messiah. Jesus warned us about this:

At that time if anyone says to you, "Look, here is the Christ!" or, "There he is!" do not believe it. For false Christs and false prophets will appear and perform great signs and miracles to deceive even the elect -- if that were possible. See, I have told you ahead of time. So if anyone tells you, "There he is, out in the desert," do not go out; or, "Here he is, in the inner rooms," do not believe it.
