What the Bible says about
that future government
As I showed in earlier sections
of this work, it will be patterned after the Roman Empire. It will
be a revival of that Empire.
Daniel's prophecies describe
the final earthly government as a coalition of ten governments; with the
ten "horns" matching the ten "toes", representing ten sub-governments,
(Daniel 2:33-43; Daniel 7:7;19-24). Read these prophecies:
Finally, there will be a fourth
kingdom, strong as iron -- for iron breaks and smashes everything -- and
as iron breaks things to pieces, so it will crush and break all the others.
Just as you saw that the feet and toes were partly of baked clay and partly
of iron, so this will be a divided kingdom; yet it will have some
of the strength of iron in it, even as you saw iron mixed with clay.
As the toes were partly iron and partly clay, so this kingdom will be partly
strong and partly brittle. And just as you saw the iron mixed with
baked clay, so the people will be a mixture and will not remain united,
any more than iron mixes with clay.
(Daniel 2:40-43)
Then I wanted to know the true
meaning of the fourth beast, which was different from all the others and
most terrifying, with its iron teeth and bronze claws .... I also wanted
to know about the ten horns on its head .... He gave me this explanation:
"The fourth beast is a fourth kingdom that will appear on earth.
It will be different from all the other kingdoms and will devour the whole
earth, trampling it down and crushing it. The ten horns are ten kings
who will come from this kingdom ...."
(Daniel 7:19-20;23-24) |
These coalition nations join to form a government
which will have great strength, but will be divided because they will be
a mixture of peoples. As a result, this coalition government will
be partly strong and partly brittle.
The Bible describes nations
in relation to this coalition. Persia and Cush (Ezekiel 38:5) will
be member nations of this coalition. It is evident that Dedan, Sheba
(Ezekiel 38:13), Egypt (Isaiah 19:3), and Israel (Ezekiel 38:16; Ezekiel
39:1-2) will not be member nations, since they are either enemies of this
government or are ignorant of its plans. The leader of this government
will come from all of the following places: Gog, Magog, Tubal, Meshech
(Ezekiel 38:2-3 and following verses), Assyria (Isaiah 8:7-8; Isaiah 23:13),
and the north (Ezekiel 38:14-15; Ezekiel 39:1-2).
Assyria? Some people
falsely believe that the Antichrist will not come from Assyria because
they believe that the prophecy in Isaiah 8:7-8 was already fulfilled when
the Assyrians conquered the northern kingdom of Israel. During Isaiah's
time the Hebrews were divided into two kingdoms, the northern kingdom of
Israel and the southern kingdom of Judah. The Assyrians swept through
the northern kingdom of Israel and scattered those Tribes of Israel all
over the world. But Isaiah 8:7-8 says that the Assyrians will conquer
Judah. That never happened! When the Assyrians attempted to
conquer the southern Kingdom of Judah, God sent an angel to kill 185,000
Assyrian soldiers, and as a result the Assyrians fled away. You can
read about that in 2 Kings 19:32-37. So the prophecy in Isaiah 8
has not been fulfilled yet.
The above names are unusual
sounding places, but they are real places! If you go to an encyclopedia
you can look them up and find there locations. Over time the people
have changed and places were renamed, but the locations spoken of in the
Bible do exist. I challenge you to get a credible encyclopedia and
look these names up for yourself. If you believe that the Bible is
literal truth, then you must accept these names literally also.
According to The New Encyclopedia
Britannica (15 ed., 1978), Persia is in modern day Iran; and Saba, also
known as Sheba, is in Yemen. Egypt and Israel still have the same
names today.
People are often confused by
the location of Cush. Many people falsely believe that Cush is in
modern Ethiopia because an ancient name for Cush was "Ethiopia".
However, Harper's Bible Dictionary (1985) says that ancient Ethiopia is
not the same place as modern Ethiopia, and that Cush is between Aswan and
Khartoum, which is approximately modern Sudan. The New Encyclopedia
Britannica (15 ed., 1978) says that Cush, also known as Nubia, is in the
area of Sudan. According to Harper's Bible Dictionary (1985), Dedan
is in the area of Saudi Arabia. Also, according to Harper's Bible
Dictionary, Gog is also known as Lydia, which is where Thyatira, Sardis,
and Philadelphia were located. These places inside Lydia are famous
places that Paul ministered, and are all in Turkey. Ezekiel 38:2
says that Magog is the same place as Gog, and so is also in Turkey.
According to Harper's Bible Dictionary (p.629, 1985), Meshech and Tubal
were people, but they are also names for an allied location. The
people were nomadic and moved to Sinai. But according to the maps
in Harper's Bible Dictionary (1985), the location is in Turkey. Webster's
Encyclopedic Unabridged Dictionary of the English Language (1989) says
that Assyria was a vast region in the Middle East, but mostly covered parts
of Iraq and Turkey. Therefore, Gog, Magog, Tubal, Meshech, and Assyria
are all located in modern day Turkey. The "north" may refer to any
of the many countries that are north of Israel, and since Turkey is north
of Israel it fits the prophecy.
So with this information, we
can know that the contemporary regions of Iran, Sudan, and Turkey will
be members of that coalition revived Roman Empire. The leader of
this government will come from Turkey.
Not all Muslims!
It is important to note that
some Muslim countries will be against this revived empire. The above
information shows us that Saudi Arabia, Yemen, Egypt, and Israel will not
be member nations. Notice that all of these nations spoken in the
Bible of are in the Middle East, North Africa, or south-eastern Europe.
